NPC Sets The Ball Rolling With ALL Parsee Tele-Games
The Nowroze Baug Play Centre (NPC) organized one of its kind ‘All Parsee Tele- Games’ on 25th September, 2022 at their very grounds amidst great pomp and flare. Flagging off the 75th Year Anniversary of their association, the NPC conceptualized a unique inter-community sports tournament that put to test an individual’s strength, grit and strategic planning.
Participated by over 90 participants equally distributed in 12 teams consisting of maximum 5 boys and minimum 2 girls per team, the event commenced at around 10 AM with Vice- President, Firdosh Khambatta briefing the teams about the 10 plus individual challenges and obstacle courses, strategically setup and spaced across the grounds. Testing one’s conviction to rise with equal proportions of mental and physical strength and push past exhaustion, the challenges included the tournament being divided into individual games of Low-Net Sepak and Human Foosball, along with a four element set-up of two obstacle courses that included 20Kg Weight Pull, Army Crawl, Table Pyramid and Berlin Wall at one end, whilst a two Pipe Climber, Cargo Army Net, Roll The Cable Roller at the other. The teams were duly judged based on Time Utility criteria. The highlight of the tournament was ‘Artic Enigma’ which required a certain member of the team to stand in waist-deep ice water with locks chained to his hand, waist and feet; requiring the other team members to slide through soapy sheets to reach and unlock the chains with the correct three out of seven keys. Giving due credit to the organizers, the event was well equipped with a doctor, first aider and a fully equipped ambulance in case of an emergency, supported with endless flow of flavoured water, courtesy O’cean Beverages, ascertaining that the energy levels of all participants continued to soar.
The teams took the morning and afternoon by storm having competed against each other to reach the semi-finals and finals, prior to a delectable Chicken Briyani Lunch and ice-cream. Post refreshments the teams progressed to the knock out finals in Low-Net Sepak and Human Foosball, followed by nerve-clenching rounds of tug-of-war between all twelve teams that helped realize the ultimate spirit of sportsmanship. Nearing evening, the participants munched on Merwan’s crispy chicken puffs, while eagerly awaiting the results that witnessed NPC President, Homi Ustad declaring ‘Ben’s Stallion’ as Champions, followed by ‘DA MASKA’ as Runner’s-Up!
Supported by an extensive and versatile organizing and volunteer team, the organizers offered their sincere gratitude to the humongous sponsorship received from The Zoroastrian Co-operative Bank Limited, Rumi Bhathena, O’cean Beverages and Viraf Mehta; followed by acknowledging the sincere efforts to Key Organizers, Firdosh Khambatta and Sport’s Secretary Zubin Luth for pulling off such a mammoth and successful tournament seamlessly!
