PARSI GENERAL HOSPITAL’S IMPROVED PERFORMANCE
WELL DONE, PGH We have received the Income and Expenditure statement as well as Balance Sheet for the last five years ending 31-3-2018, 31-3-2019, 31- 3-2020, 31-3-2021 and 31-3-2022. Whilst we are unable to publish the P & L statement as well as BS for the five years, we have also received a comparative statement of the Hospitals performance for the last five years, which we have published in this issue. It is seen that for the year 1-4-21 to 31-3-22 the Hospital has posted a profit of over Rs. 8 crores against a loss of a few crores for the earlier years. It has to be remembered that the whole world was suffering from the Covid pandemic from March 2020 onwards till date and inspite of this the Hospital’s performance is amazing.
The community and especially the poor, need to thank the Managing Committee under the leadership of Homa Petit and his right hand Hector Mehta for a Job well done and hope that it will continue to serve the lower sections of our community as it has done so far. Now that we are out of the shadow of the controversy surrounding PGH a few years back, we hope that the Hospital will continue to prosper without any further controversy.
Parsiana in its last issue of 7-9 to 20-9-22 has quoted in its Editorial that PGH is a loss-making institution. Zoru Bhathena who was in the forefront at the time of the last controversy of Rs. 160 crores, has now rightly requested Parsiana to have a look at the improved financials over the last few years as well as the improved medical facilities and infrastructure at the Hospital.
According to him what was required was a transformation in the way it worked and such a transformation is visible all around PGH today in the hospital as well as its financials. Since PGH is a boon the community in general and especially to the poor in particular it would be fitting if Parsiana carried out a fresh survey of PGH, its finances and its improved facilities and infrastructure and informed the community of its findings.
