Vistara to fly doctors, nurses for free across India to help during Covid crisis

In a move to help India battle the coronavirus crisis, Vistara has offered to fly doctors and nurses for free across the country.

In a letter to the Civil Aviation Ministry, Vistara has expressed its desire to play a role in battling the crisis and hence offered to fly fronline workers for free. The airlines said it will carry doctors and nurses from one place to another and on completion of their work will fly them back, for free.

The company also said it can help with the transport of important equipment which may be needed to fight the crisis. Vistara, however, said the responsibility of ground transport will be with the institution seeking help from Vistara. Vistara said earlier also it helped in the transportation of medical equipment to PPE kits. The airlines said it wants to contribute similarly even this time.

The Indian Air Force has also been roped in for assistance with airlifting oxygen containers and important medical items. With private companies pitching in, the fight will be smoother.
