Parsis giving a treat to Amdavadis on Dec 29

Amdavadis, gear up for a ‘Parsi treat’ before the year ends. The Ahmedabad Parsi Panchayat in association with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is all set to bring a first of its kind ‘Parsi fest’ to the city.

The fest will be held at 100-year-old Nowrojee Hall in Shahibaug on December 29 and will offer Parsi delicacies, an insight into their garments, vintage car collection and books.

Mehr Medora, a member of Parsi Panchayat and trustee of Ushta-te Foundation, said, “On request from the heritage cell of AMC, we have organised the event which will begin from 5.30 pm. Gujarat Governor OP Kohli will preside over the function.”

Medora added, “The feat will have stalls displayed by Parsis from across the state. There will be a talk on the contribution of Parsis in the city, Parsi textile exhibition, a tour of Nowrojee hall to delve into the life of how Sir Norojee lived.” The stalls will also be on Parsi cuisine. The star attraction would be stall where visitors can dress up like Parsis in their traditional attire and get photographs clicked with vintage cars in the background.

Medora added, “The aim is to showcase our community to the non-Parsis of Ahmedabad. We have invited students of CEPT university, IIMA, NID, NIFT, MICA, etc along with some prominent personalities of Ahmedabad.”
