Pateti also known as Navroz is basically the Parsi New Year, which is all set to close all the accounts of the last year and begin with the new year. On the day of Pateti day the parsis visit the fire temple which is also known as agiary which is a fire temple. It is said that the sacred fire was brought from Iran once upon a time and is always kept burning in the temple by the priest. The parsis further also worship Ahura Mazda, which symbolizes fire. This festival signifies that it is the time to forget and forgive wrong and sins of previous year and start a new year of love and peace. Pateti or Navroz is the first day of the starting month of all the Zoroastrian and the best day relish Parsi cuisine. On this day, parsi families relatives exchange gifts, sweets and greet each other. On this auspicious occasion, they also prepare some special food items like Patra ni macchi (fish wrapped in banana leaves), sali boti (meat with potato chips), rava and falooda is also made. People celebrate this special day with lot of zeal and enthusiasm.

21. Ravo:
Ravo is a sweet dish which is their utmost specialty. Ravo or semolina marks the start of the auspicious day which is prepared by lightly frying the semolina before dousing it with great amount of creamy milk. The complete dish looks like pearls adorned on thick creamy layer . One can enjoy it with dry fruits soaked with ghee and buttered bread or tea.

 

 

32. Sev:
Ravo and sev are also served as breakfast dishes but can be served Ravo is usually served as a dessert, but at times, Ravo and sev are also served as breakfast dishes. After ravo the second delicious dish sweet is mithoo sev and dahi. Usually served at the fire temple, this dish contains nutmeg-scented sweet curd. This is the best way to start your Pateti.

 

 

43. Paatra ni machi:
When it comes to non-veg every culture has their own recipes since traditional times. This is the trademark of Parsis, using mild green chutney to coat the fish before they wrap it in banana leaves and then steam it. Pomfret or Kingfish is usually usedto prepare this dish. Coconut chutney filling made up of coriander, chilies, mint, and lemons adds up to make it mouth watering.

 

54. Special Pulav:
Special pulav is prepared with lots of saffron and nuts and is served with fish and other spicy dishes. Cooking rice and moong dal is mandatory for all Parsis on this day.

 

 

65. Chicken farcha:
No Parsi can skip this dish. It is supposed to be on the top of the menu even before egg battered or fried chicken. Chicken farcha is cooked best when it is perfectly golden, crispy. Chicken farcha is one among the best foods made by Parsis on this day.

 

 

76. Sali chicken:
One of the amazing things about this delicious dish is that it can never go wrong in taste. From generations Parsi people prepare this dish with the help of fried potato sticks or masaledar chicken gravy. Some put sugar, vinegar and spices to enhance its taste. One can have it with chapatti, bread or potato crisp.

 

87. Falooda:
This special sweet dish prepared by most of the Parsis, completes the list of delicious dishes on this day. Falooda is made of milk, it is then flavored with rose essence. Beside this other favorite sweet dishes prepared on this auspicious occasion are caramel custard and Lagan-nu-custard.
