Speeding clean-up truck crushes man in SoBo

A speeding clean-up dumper truck rammed a 35-year-old cyclist on Thursday evening. The victim, Firdos Dumasia who lived in Cuffe Parade, died before he could be admitted to hospital.

The Cuffe Parade police have arrested the dumper driver, Ram Amourya (54) and booked him for rash and negligent driving and culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Though the clean-up truck is owned by the BMC, the driver is on contract .

The police said the accident took place around 4.15pm on G D Somani Road. Passersby rushed Dumasia to the nearby G T Hospital, but he was declared dead before admission.
