Parsi body in apex court over hospital

MUMBAI: Bombay Parsi Punchayet chief Dinshaw Mehta and its trustee Armaity Tirandaz have moved the Supreme Court demanding that a public notice be issued and the Parsi Lying-In hospital opposite Cathedral school in south Mumbai, be given to the highest bidder after transparently calling for bids.

The SC after hearing their counsel Harish Salve has fixed the matter for a hearing next Tuesday. Mehta’s main plea is that the hospital property which is well over Rs 100 crore is practically being gifted away in “closed door” deal to a developer. The Punchayet is the owner and the trustee of the hospital.
