Lord Karan Bilimoria Talks about Contributions of Parsi’s in India
Patna: British NRI entrepreneur and the co-founder of the Cobra Beer Lord Karan Bilimoria, speaking at the 13th Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI) lecture in Patna on Tuesday, hailed the role of the Parsis in India saying not only they played an integral part in the freedom movement but also contributed immensely towards the economic development of the country.
Bilimoria, speaking on the ‘Role of Jamshedji Tata: Contribution of Parsis in the Indian Freedom Struggle”, described Tata as a visionary, besides being a freedom fighter, who put Jamshedpur on the world map by setting up a steel factory there.
“Parsis, as a community, though small, have contributed greatly towards the economic development and growth of the post-Independence India. Their dedication and hard work is legendary. Tata was one of those luminaries whose commitment towards the nation’s freedom was as passionate as his desire to lead India into the league of developed nations,” he said.
A 30-minute film titled ‘Qissa-e Parsi: The Parsi Story’ was screened on the occasion.
Others who also spoke on the occasion included Nalanda University Vice Chancellor Gopa Sabharwal, ADRI Secretary Shaibal Gupta, ADRI Director Dr. Prabhat Ghosh, and Professor Anjan Mukherjee.
