REAL LIFE SELFLESS HERO – Support flows in for Rumy Zarir

Today I would like to share something with my dear Parsi / Irani friends and speak about a REAL LIFE SELFLESS HERO named RUMY ZARIR who has a heart of gold. He is generous, benevolent, liberal, helpful and friendly.

My wife Dilshad and I are from Surat. In the year 2017 my wife Dilshad Shroff was detected with kidney failure. I brought her to Parsi General Hospital in Mumbai where she was being treated. While my wife was undergoing treatment, I was continuously struggling to keep up with my emotions and will power at the same time. I wanted her to feel better and I knew I had to be strong for her in these trying times. I was terrified not knowing whether my wife was going to be fine and I could not with hold my tears. This is when Rumy Zarir who was present there, approached me and comforted me. He patiently heard me while I was sobbing and pouring my heart out to him. I felt relived and lighthearted to know that I had someone who was willing to share my pain. I first thought that Rumy Zarir had come by to the hospital to visit someone generally, however only after speaking to him I realised that he too was going through the same agony as his father-inlaw was critical in the ICU.

I would like to add that infact he was the only one to notice my tears and torment. Although he himself was grieving the condition of his dear father-in-law, he did not hesitate to spend his valuable time with me. When I learnt that his grief is no less than mine, I was very humbled by his gesture, and surprised to know that a person who is himself going through tough times and needs to divert his energy towards his family, is in fact showing concern to me and my family as well.

Rumy Zarir not only comforted me but bought me meals to eat as well. He cared for me just as a family member would. His good deeds only tell that Rumy is a generous and forthcoming human being.

His help and support did not end here. He asked me if I would require financial assistance to pay the medical bills as he understood that kidney failure is a long-term treatment. I was so relieved to hear that I could be financially aided when I required it the most. My mind was so preoccupied thinking about my wife’s wellbeing that I could not think about anything else. Rumy Zarir was a God sent Angel for me at that time. I could feel that he wanted to help me in every way he could. He not only supported me financially through a Trust but also gave me all the moral support I required.

Today my wife is doing well and we are thankful to Rumy Zarir for everything he has done for both of us.

Till date Rumy is in touch with me and enquires about our wellbeing.

There are very few such selfless human beings who help people without expecting anything in return.

That’s the kind of man RUMY ZARIR is, he is good- hearted, kind and caring. When no one has the time in today’s fast life to stop by for their own, Rumy Zarir, a helpful soul stopped by to share the pain of a complete stranger.

My wife and myself are so ever grateful to him for everything.

recently got to know and was very happy to hear that Rumy Zarir is contesting the forthcoming BPP Election, hence I would like to urge my Community members to kindly come out and vote for him as he is one person who will always stand by our community come what may!

I’ve known Rumy Zarir since many years. He is a very nice human being and a good Samaritan. Since last many years he has been rendering selfless services in our colony and has also served our entire Zoroastrian community. During pandemic year he had made very good arrangement inside our colony for buying essential goods for the convenience of our tenants without stepping out of the colony premises. He also arranged for the vaccination drives not only for senior citizens but also for others from South Mumbai and suburbs at the Parsee General Hospital and at a couple of suburban locations.

All the buildings of our colony were well sanitized not once but multiple times under his supervision during the pandemic situation. He had willingly volunteered to deliver meals, provisions and medicines to the residence of our senior citizens through BPP. Whenever we needed any kind of help he would always go out of his way to do so. I therefore heartily support him for the post of a trustee of the BPP and wish him All the Very Best in Life!

Rumy Zarir has always been a Lion-hearted individual with firm principles, strong values & a fervor to do all that he can for the Society & for Our Proud Zoroastrian Community.

No wonder he joined Lions Clubs International & that’s how we met, interacted & bonded. I vividly remember that Rumy Zarir as a President in the Year 2011 – 2012 performed exceedingly well as that year I was the District Cabinet Secretary & he did utmost justice to whatever was entrusted upon him.

He had a clear vision & focused goal to give all that it takes to help the downtrodden, to ensure no injustice is done & to help in whatever way our Community needed any help, anywhere & anytime.

No wonder that Rumy Zarir is known as our Community’s Go-To Man who has a ‘never give-up attitude and ensures that all tasks taken in hand has to be completed with desired results.

So, if you want a grassroot worker, someone who can be on the field and solve the problems at the eleventh hour, here is a Candidate who just possess the passion to do the same & make our Community Proud.

Rumy Zarir has been a pillar of support for the tenants and has made our Zoroastrian colony a safer place. After taking over as the CEO of Zoroastrian Building Funds, within a short span of time, Rumy reactivated the dormant CCTV project and speedily got the cameras installed and operational. He also undertook activation of the defunct fire hydrants in the colony.

He has assisted in getting speedy approvals for the repair of our old buildings.

His round the clock availability and hardwork during the lockdown was amazing.

Wishing Rumy Zarir all the best for his future endeavours and may he continue serving the community selflessly.

This message is for Rumy. I am highly recommending Rumy for BPP. Rumy is an honest, sincere and hard-working person who works selflessly, always puts others first. I am so thankful to him for all that he has done for the the Zoroastrian Building fund and also put his own life at stake during the pandemic to ensure the seniors in the community were fed and vaccinated.
