Ratan Tata advocates these 5 golden rules that made him successful

These 5 rules may change how you work

Ratan Tata is a force to reckon with, an inspiration for millions and a man most of us would never think ill of. Why? Because he cares for people who work for him no matter what the stature is. He is well known to be a man with a big heart and social media is proof of that. Ratan Tata has 5 golden rules, work tips for leaders.

  1. Be there for your employees:

No matter what your rank is in the company, Ratan Tata is well known to be available for his employees. Tata is amongst one of the most employee-friendly companies in India. Ratan Tata is a staunch supporter of the belief that you should be answerable to the employee who is working hard for you. He shared in an interview to a media house that “as a business leader, you have to face your shareholders. And then, there are the people who have to deliver the goods and work for you, you need to be there for them as well.”

2. Laying off is never a solution:

The pandemic stirred everyone’s career due to the lockdown and millions became jobless. The PM did request businesses to lay off people but most companies had to because they were into losses. However, Ratan Tata believed that it is very important to show loyalty to the ones who work for you. He asked all leaders out there if “laying off people was going to solve the problem? It won’t”. “Companies need to react in the right way for the people who serve & work with them,” he added.

3. Unity will always be a strength:

If you believe that your employees must work extra hard in these tough times then your acknowledgement and support should come naturally. He shared that Organisations must stand together with their employees to fight the tough times. Looking at solutions to share the load, give them breaks, be supportive in whichever way possible is important. It will instigate people to deliver good results if employees are shown that they matter. He said: “We can all unite and we need to unite to find solutions and put an end to this crisis.”

4. Keep yourself updated and relevant:

Being in sync with the younger generation and staying relevant is crucial for any organization, company, small business, to be successful. Tapping in the energy youngsters exude helps you grow too.

“I have always enjoyed the company of spirited and enthusiastic youth of the country. Their energy is truly infectious, and they make me feel like I haven’t aged at all,” shared Tata in a press conference.

5. Empathy:

Having an empathetic relationship with your employees and co-workers is crucial. If an employee is happy, the results will be good, the productivity level shall increase and so will the profits. People quit their jobs largely due to tough bosses and an unhealthy work environment. So why push them to that point?
