There’s nothing like a good laugh. Humour captures audiences everywhere and keeping that in mind, Silly Point Productions, which is celebrating 10 years in theatre with its comedies, is set to have the audience in splits again on July 29 at St Andrews, Bandra. This time around, they have roped in the likes of Mona Singh (of ‘Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi’ and ‘3 Idiots’ fame) and more, to step into the shoes of Dr Bombay, a therapist. She attempts to heal three individuals – a Hindu, Muslim, Parsi and Christian as they battle their anger.

Mona portrays not one, but seven characters on stage – from an old Parsi aunty to a Goan lady, a teenager and even a police officer. Guess what? All the other four artists also have seven characters each. Danesh Irani, who plays the character of Mehernosh Siganporia, a 65-year-old Parsi bachelor talks about his role. “Mehernosh is a very crass, loud mouthed character. He is the comic element in the play and the only one who actually insults every single character on the stage, in a fun way. He says all the things one would think twice before speaking, and quite anti what I would be in real life. But you will see that the person he taunts the most, is the one who he also feels for the most. So, he’s an honest, clean-hearted character. He also loves carrying his revolver everywhere he goes. In fact, he gets sent into therapy as he gets caught with his revolver at the airport.”

Most characters in the play are playing multiple characters – some eight, some six characters and some, four. “It was the first time I played a sardar and a Malayali professor among other characters,” smiles Danesh, adding, “It was also fun to act with Mona, she is at her versatile best in the play.”
